These days what we mostly fail to notice is that kids are getting anxious when they are in environments like school. As someone who has suffered from high levels of anxiety due to school I know how it feels. At some point, you dread going to the place.
It starts with anxiety, slowly it degrades your self-worth and by and by it makes you think that what’s the point of doing anything anyway.
So, advice for parents out there. Don’t push your kids too much, at some point they’ll feel like they can’t do anything right or that you just don’t love them. Keep in mind what you say when you’re angry. Saying something like “I wish you weren’t my kid” would go very badly in the future and your kid might take it too seriously. Grades aren’t everything, if your child grows up kind and average it’s better than being a douche and a genius. So appreciate whatever qualities your kid has and try to help them with things they are finding difficult. Talk to your kid about the school environment. Ask them whether they are being bullied, it happens quite a lot these days. Be supportive of things that you think are good for your kids, don’t ignore them or constantly keep telling them you’re busy. It hurts them a lot.
So, keep these things in mind because anxiety is a big thing. If your kids tell you that they are constantly anxious about things, listen to them and if needed contact a therapist because anxiety is a very serious condition which disrupts the normal life.
